Rafting Expedition on the wild Mutonga River - 2 days

This isn't your typical weekend getaway - an escape from the routine, a taste of the wild, and a surge of pure adrenaline.

White-water thrills by day and unwind on a secluded sandy riverside camp under the stars by night while the roar of the river surrounds you.  Our two-day exhilarating rafting adventure on the untamed Mutonga River is not just an adrenaline rush – it's an experience that will awaken your sense of adventure.

What's in store?

Tana River (also called Sagana River) is the largest river in Kenya in the Mt. Kenya region.  Mutonga River is a tributary of Tana River.

Day 1:

Kick off at 8am from Sagana for a two-hour scenic drive to the east side of Mt. Kenya to Mutonga River.  Then, gear up for the adventure as we launch into the river.  Expect Class 3 rapids to get your pulse racing.  After a riverside picnic, the rafting intensifies as you tackle another 10-15 km of action-packed river before arriving at our camp on the riverbank.  Here, it’s time to unwind with sundowners and a campfire dinner under a sky full of stars.

Day 2:

The adventure continues after breakfast, as the river takes on a more thrilling pace with some Class 4 rapids as you continue white water rafting for 10km down the river.  After a stop for lunch, we wrap up by returning to Sagana by 3-4pm.
